Poncho's Mustang Rescue was established in 2023 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, born out of a heartfelt tribute to a cherished companion. Poncho, the namesake of the rescue, was a beloved personal horse whose life was cut short in August 2021 due to complications following colic surgery, during which a 3.5-pound enterolith was removed.

His passing left a profound void in our hearts, inspiring us to honor his memory by dedicating our efforts to the rescue and rehabilitation of other mustangs. Through this mission, we aim to provide these majestic animals with a second chance at life, just as Poncho brought joy and companionship to ours. His spirit lives on in every horse we save, and his legacy fuels our passion for making a difference in the world of equine welfare.
